Compare distance-driver molds by the maker’s intended role, documented rim profile, plastic and selected weight. A higher speed label is a category clue, not a promise of extra distance.

Distance drivers cover different shot plans, from power-oriented hyzer drives to turnovers and tailwind lines. Start with the shot missing from your bag and a disc you already understand. The highest speed is not automatically the next step: plastic, selected weight and the maker’s intended flight all change the choice.

Separate a power-driver role from a turning role
The selected Halo Star Destroyer is described around power, long hyzers and headwind drives. Halo Star Mamba instead names tailwind shots, turnovers and rollers. Those are distinct purposes within one manufacturer, even though both are distance drivers and both use Halo Star.
For a same-speed Innova comparison, Mamba and Wraith are both listed at speed eleven. Their supplied turn/fade values differ: Mamba is −5/1 and Wraith −1/3. Use that to compare their intended roles alongside a familiar Innova disc, without turning the figures into a guaranteed line or throwing distance.
Compare rim class and power-dependent use
Neutron Trail identifies a twenty-millimeter class and a hyzer-flip/turnover role. Proton Jet identifies a twenty-one-millimeter class and explicitly distinguishes higher-power turnovers from lower-power straight-to-fade use. A rim-class label is useful grip context; it is not a measurement of your hand fit.
Choose between those named molds by the grip and use you want to explore, rather than matching numbers across brands. Axiom’s speed-nine Insanity is also classified by its maker as a distance driver, showing why the department cannot be reduced to one universal speed threshold.
Choose the offered blend and weight range
The selected Destroyer and Mamba offers are Halo Star in 170–172g, while Wraith is offered at 173–175g. Trail is selected as Neutron in 170–175g and Jet as Proton in 170–175g. Those are actual offer ranges; they are not measurements of one photographed disc.
Halo Star’s different-colored rim and flight plate, opaque Neutron and transparent-color Proton identify different appearance/material choices. Keep the blend visible when replacing a disc. A mold’s full available weight range does not replace the narrower range in the offer, and varying color does not promise the photo’s combination.
Examples in this department
Explore these models to compare their features, included parts and intended uses.
Will a faster disc necessarily travel farther for me?
No. Manufacturer speed describes the intended design demand. Compare a familiar disc and the shot role before moving to a faster design.
Why compare Mamba with Wraith?
They share Innova’s speed-eleven label but have different supplied turn/fade values and intended roles. This is more useful than a cross-brand numerical shortcut.
Does a 170–175g offer identify an exact unit weight?
It identifies a range. It does not establish that the disc in a photograph has been individually weighed for your order.
Is the rim-class number the whole disc diameter?
No. Trail’s twenty-millimeter and Jet’s twenty-one-millimeter labels concern their driver class/rim context, not a twenty-millimeter disc diameter.
